IESOÂ SAVE ON ENERGY RETROFIT PROGRAM UPDATES

On June 30, 2025, the following changes will come into effect:

Increasing incentive rates for Custom non-lighting measures to $1,800/kW and $0.20/kWh from existing rates $1,200/kW and $0.13/kWh. The following changes will also take effect for Custom projects:

increasing the incentive threshold at which a Custom project will require a measurement and verification plan from $80,000 to $120,000

increasing the incentive threshold at which a Custom project will require additional engineering calculations from $10,000 to $15,000

Updating the list of local areas qualifying for regional adders to reflect forecasted electricity constraints, and introducing regional adders for Custom incentives

Introducing new Prescriptive data centre measures (ENERGY STAR®-certified computer servers, computer server virtualization, ENERGY STAR®-certified uninterruptible power supply)

Updating measure assumptions, deemed savings and certain incentives for Prescriptive greenhouse lighting and advanced greenhouse lighting controls measures

Updating measure assumptions and deemed savings for Prescriptive network lighting controls measure

Updating incentive structure for existing Prescriptive demand control ventilation measure for interior spaces
2023 Energy Efficiency Report Released
In 2023, the IESO delivered and expanded its suite of energy efficiency programs—while increasing energy savings targets—to achieve a cumulative total of 1,698 GWh of energy savings and 283 MW of peak demand savings over three years under the 2021-2024 Conservation and Demand Management Framework. The actual and committed savings totals represent 77 per cent of the 2021-2023 energy savings target and 68 per cent of the 2021-2023 peak demand savings target. These achievements are a result of 162,303 energy-efficiency projects initiated through Save on Energy.
